We had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Evans and are very saddened by her departure from this world while rejoicing in knowing she has gone to meet our Savior! Kim, do know you have friends in us who cannot filled your Mom's void, but will continue to be here for you and pray for Mom's ever lasting peace.

Ms. Evans, you will be missed. I wish you a safe journey back home. You were such a wonderful person. I never got to meet you in person but I surely talked about you quite often. May Lord be with you. 🙏🏻

Donzella Hughes-Evans, daughter and loving mother, was born with her fraternal twin, Mozella
Hughes, in Louisville, Kentucky, on August 2, 1942, to Dorothy Louise Hughes and Herman L.
Hughes. Donzella transitioned to her heavenly home from the hospital on April 19, 2022, as she
and her daughter Kim embraced. She graduated from Central High School (Louisville,
Kentucky) and the University of Maryland at College Park. Her studies also included graduate
coursework at Bowie State College. Her vast career experiences included the helping professions
such as counseling which took advantage of her major gifting of helping and loving people.

Donzella’s love for people was a natural extension of her personal relationship with her Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. She took every opportunity to witness about the Love of Christ
to family, friends, neighbors, and strangers throughout her life. Her many talents included
speaking the truth in love and using her computer skills to creatively communicate the Gospel
and love of Christ to many.

Donzella grew up in Kentucky but lived in Maryland most of her life. As a devoted and loving
mother, she sacrificed much to rear her daughter Kim in a loving and supportive home. Most
important, she led her daughter to a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus. The
mother-daughter pair often worked together to witness to the love of Christ in a variety of ways.
Donzella’s many favorite Bible books and verses included the prophetic Books of Daniel and
Revelation as well as the Gospel of John and the Psalms.

Donzella is mourned by her only child and best friend, Kim Y. Evans; sister, Anita Hughes-
Hardison; brother, Wallace Hughes, Sr.; and many nieces and nephews as well as a host of
relatives and friends.
